THE KAT CVET
ULTIMATE CHRISTENING GUIDE
HOW TO SET UP
Setting up your bedroom or nursery for your detail shots, make sure you have a clean white bed spread that has been ironed or steamed prior to remove wrinkles. Colours and patters should be avoided as it becomes distracting and shits the focus off the christening outfit and details. Side tables should be very minimal and clean; a beautiful vase with some flowers can compliment the room beautifully.
HOW TO LAY IT OUT
Consider placing your box on the bed or on a clean surface with nothing else around. Kat will re arrange the items and set them up to be photographed. Find a nice spot to hang the christening outfits, either on a hook or on a mirror.
WHAT YOU NEED
For bed shots, we recommend a nappy cover or nothing at all. If you have a baby girl you can add a bow to her hair.
Kat will always take photos of the Christening outfit after the bed shots. She understands that with some christenings this outfit isnt the one you go to church in, but change into after. Kat will still take photos at home in the Christening gown. These photos include detail shots of mum dressing bub on the bed, so please make sure you are ready yourself before this part.
Mornings are usually the best time to get your family shots done as the lighting is optimal & children tend to be more favourable. Sometimes however the little one can get fussy or requires feeding during the shoot. This means we could stop shooting a few times. There may also be times where someone is running late or not quite ready. I do recommend 1-1.5hrs at home to be sufficient for the morning shots. This time will allow for the stopping where needed. Anything shorter than 1-1.5hrs at home can mean we won't get all the shots or may have to miss out on bed shots or shots in the christening outfit. 1.5hrs is considered when you have alot of family and or other children there as well.
This is the last outfit that is worn to the church, where we do our last set of shots. Not everyone will have 2 outfits but some church’s will ask you to come in one outfit and change into the main christening outfit after the baptism.
Kat will do a light retouch to your images and make sure they are print ready. Light retouching includes lighting, contrast, correcting colours and minor skin retouching. It's important that all the images match and flow together. Retouching takes 2-4 weeks, once your images are ready, they will be uploaded to a private downloadable link you can share with your family and friends. If you wish to purchase a USB in a keep sake box, that will be mailed out 1-2 weeks after your link is received.
